Updates: Speed Cameras, Trash Rules, and License Plate Updates

Speed Cameras
After debating how to control speeding within Tour 18 for many years and openly discussing buying a photo radar system at numerous Community Meetings during that time frame, we have finally installed a photo radar system within the community that went live mid-October. Within the first two weeks, it captured 76 violations over 40 mph, and 36 of those were identified and fines issued. Once a month, the system will download all the violations, with pictures of the vehicle, and we will actively work on identifying the cars and issuing fines. The hope is that after a couple of months, the ones that are receiving the fines will slow down and respect that the speed limit is 30 mph within the entire community, and our community will be a safer place. The camera will be moved periodically to various streets over time so we can address residents’ concerns about speeding down their street.
Trash by the streets
Over the past few months, the Board has received numerous calls from the community regarding trash being put out on the street on various days of the week. It’s been observed that trash was being set out on Friday and Saturday and remained curbside for almost a week until trash was picked up on Thursday. To help clarify the rules, we have updated the rules to allow trash to be set out no more than 24 hours before pick-up, and the trash containers need to be removed no later than 24 hours after pick-up. This should allow Residents that utilize trash can cleaning companies to schedule the cans to be cleaned late Thursday afternoon or early Friday mornings.
License plates update needed
As a community, we have utilized dwellingLive as our visitor management software for almost 9 years. In the beginning it was one of the top-rated software systems in this arena, but unfortunately over time, dwellingLive has not kept up with modern technology and has been very prone to break down causing new tags to not be registered and visitor notices to not be sent out in a timely manner. The parent company has also been raising the fee’s year after year. The Board has been researching, led by Greg Crouse, alternative solutions that would be more stable, bring us newer technology so the gate could possibly operate more efficiently, and we could help improve the overall Residents experience utilizing it. One of the requests that we have made to alternative companies is the ability to import our current data into the new system, so we cause the least amount of burden on the Residents if we do move over.
Our request is for everyone to go into dwellingLive and look at the data to make sure it is accurate. Is the contact information correct, are the guests still accurate? Are the cars listed correct, and more importantly, are the license plates correct. One of the features that new services have is license plate readers that could dramatically help decrease the processing time at the gate. We will still be using the toll tags to raise the gate arms, but a license plate reader could be a great back up if you need to utilize the visitor lane. But for it to work, the license plates need to be in the system correctly. And for us to import the current data over so it works properly, it needs to be correct. Over the last 8-9 years, cars have been added that might only have temporary tags at that time, and they have not always been updated in the system once the real plate came in. Starting December 12th, we will be suspending any vehicles toll tags that have temporary plates in the system. They can be quickly re-activated once we see the plates are updated in the system. It is very easy to update the information on the web, or in the dwellingLive app. If you need assistance, please feel free to reach out to Jeff to help you update your information.Thank you.
